Kauai Extreme Helicopter TourFor this helicopter tour, we’ll remove the doors of the copter so that passengers may truly experience the sights and tropical weather of Kauai. Kauai is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands. It was created by a volcano nearly four million years ago. The volcano later collapsed, leaving a beautiful landscape as lava continued to flow. At its tallest point is Mount Wai’ale’ale at over five thousand feet. The summit of the mountain receives more than four hundred and sixty inches of rain per year, making it one of the wettest spots on earth and also the most lush. You will see plants and animals unique to Mount Wai’ale’ale due to the climate of the mountain. And because the area is so wet, it is almost impossible to experience in anything other than a helicopter. Streams and waterfalls run down the mountainside, carving out a magnificent rugged landscape. The water erosion from Mount Wai’ale’ale has created four valleys around the mountain, the most spectacular being the Waimea Canyon. This is the largest canyon in the Pacific and has been called the Grand Canyon of the Hawaiian Islands. It is ten miles long, one mile wide, and more than three thousand feet deep. The cliffs of the canyon were created by lava flows, which have transformed from the original black color to a beautiful bright red. The area is absolutely breathtaking with its patches of green and red and the unique design of the jagged cliffs. It can only truly be appreciated and captured from the air. We will also take you along the Napali coastline, which is inaccessible by automobile. Once again you will see magnificent jagged cliffs with waterfalls, but this time set in the background of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. |
