Big Island to Maui A STAR Helicopter TourView the northern tip of the Big Island along with Maui from a comfortable seat in the sky. You will begin by flying over the Alenuihaha Channel to Maui. On the water, this is the world’s most dangerous channel. From the air, it is beautiful, blue, and clear. Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands. Maui developed from two large volcanoes and as a result, features a variety of landscapes, from the black and rocky lava fields to green valleys. Its northeast coast is rugged, made of cliffs of rocks. While the area is a tedious drive on land, it is a spectacular view from the air. You will also fly over Ohe’o Gulch, also known as the Seven Sacred Pools. Enchanting waterfalls flow into the serene pools of water that meander finally into the ocean. The area is also home to the Infinity Pool, surrounded by cliffs of gray rocks, and Waimoku Falls, a dramatic four-hundred-foot waterfall. You will see Hana, a quaint town and home to Hamoa Beach. Here the coast is made up of both cliffs and sand beaches and is lush with vegetation. You will also get a wonderful view of the Haleakala Crater, one of the volcanoes that created the island. You will head back to the Big Island and see the lush mountain of Kohala, an extinct volcano covered in rainforests and waterfalls. From above you will see ancient black fields of lava as they meet the white sand beaches of Kohala. There is also beauty in the rolling grass lawns of some of the world’s most premier golf courses. |
